This is without a doubt one of the most useful videos I’ve ever watched.
I am researching how to eliminate or reduce hum, static, noise and feedback when playing guitar. It’s a real buzzkill. I have a Boss NS-2 noise gate, but it doesn’t seem to do the trick enough. After watching this, I know now enough to check my wall outlet and check the insides of the amp to see that its properly grounded and lines shielded. Hopefully that will help. I’ve also heard about THD Hotplate’s, but those are more for power soaking, allowing you to crank up the amp without incurring the volume load (practice levels).
This is an issue I have been trying to tackle for years. I had a pretty good rack setup, but that has been out of commission for a few years in favor of a Marshall TSL-100 head. Without any gating, it sounds like its about to eat you when you flip on Lead distortion. I kept my ADA MP-1 preamp by the way, and no I will never part with that
It’s pretty rare these days to see someone on YouTube actually know what they are talking about and have the competence to demonstrate it as well. Hats off to this guy.
This image helped explain the functions of the pedal more, too.
