Deftones Diamond VIP Pass Acquired

| Comments

A few days ago I stated that one of my goals would be to see Deftones live this year. As luck would have it (or rather my lack of reading up on band tours this year), Deftones are starting a tour early this year. In May they will be playing at the Electric Factory with The Dillinger Escape Plan, another sweet ass band.

When they announced they are offering a VIP package for only $150, I jumped on it. Here’s what I got:

ONE (1) CONCERT TICKET ONE (1) INTIMATE MEET AND GREET WITH DEFTONES ONE (1) PRIVATE PERFORMANCE ONE (1) INDIVIDUAL PHOTO WITH DEFTONES TAKEN BY A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER ONE (1) AUTOGRAPHED SET LIST ONE (1) SOUND CHECK PERFORMANCE ONE (1) AUTOGRAPHED LIMITED EDITION LITHOGRAPH ONE (1) SOUVENIR LAMINATE ONE (1) DEFTONES SIGNATURE GUITAR PICK TIN CROWD FREE, PRE-SHOW MERCH SHOPPING PRE-SHOW ENTRY

Who wouldn’t do that? No brainer right there. I’ve seen these guys around 6 times live and love their work. I first saw them in September 2001, just a few days before 9/11. They played the Meriweather Post Pavillion with Godsmack headlining the show. The only reason I had bought a ticket was because I thought CKY was playing, which would have been my first concert seeing them. However when I received the show ticket in the mail, it said DEFTONES/GODSMACK. It took me a minute to put together that CKY was an opener and not headlining- which was even better.

Unfortunately, a disagreement between CKY and Godsmack members led to CKYs departure from the tour a few weeks prior to the show, replaced by Puddle of Mudd (side note, check out where Puddle of Mudd and Godsmack are now, versus CKY- haha).

The Deftones were amazing then and blew the roof off the place. Front row for that show and many more following that. Suppose I will be meeting a few more goals come May.

I had planned on seeing this band this year, but not actually meeting them! I am pretty excited that I get a chance to do that now, because you don’t generally get the opportunity to meet bands like this unless its sheer luck, or, a promo which is rare. Won’t be my first time being a VIP at Electric Factory though :)

Check them out. They are an awesome band.
